Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder has been heavily linked with a number of clubs over the last couple of windows, most recently with Spurs. However, it now looks like a move to White Hart Lane could be off.
The Dutch international’s agent has dismissed the recent speculation saying, “There is nothing, absolutely nothing true about that.”
The rumours about a possible move to Spurs sprung up after it emerged boss Andre Villas-Boas was an admirer of the 28-year-old playmaker.
Also believed to be chasing Sneijder’s signature are Manchester United, who were closely linked with him last summer, and big money Paris St Germain.
Opinion – Sneijder has been linked with just about everyone lately, and I very much doubt Spurs will be the last. Despite this, if Spurs could sign Sneijder (which is unlikely) it would be brilliant for them. You only have to look at the influence of Van der Vaart and Modric last season, to see what quality playmakers can do. And who knows, maybe a more creative player can kick-start the stuttering Adebayor into form….
